Mallory Park  (cont)

We wheeled the bike down to scrutineering and the marshal was totally blown away by it. He commented on the brakes and then just about every part of the bike he needed to check before giving his stamp of approval. A queue was now forming behind us as he took a little longer than usual, we answered all his questions and filled with pride as we absorbed his admiration!

Boy did it pull the crowds round when we took it up to the starting gates to line up for our first run ever on a race track.

Its fair to say we were a little apprehensive, but the excitement as John started the engine and pulled out of the pits disappeared quickly as he pulled away onto the track to let the bike find its feet on the Mallory track..

I stood on the pit lane wall and watched with a big smile on my face as the beautiful GS1000 passed me, the engine sounded so sweet and with the tune of the Yoshimura Exhaust still ringing in my ears he was round again.. it was truly a magical moment of the past meeting the present.

Interest from the Pros!

Trevor Nation popped over to see the bike and spent some time chatting to Al (Kipper) it seemed to set the harts of a few of our past masters fluttering... Nick Jeffries and his wife came to look at the bike and Nick sat astride the bike chatted with John for a while he recalled the days of the 80s race scene when he rode alongside Wes Cooley.. He thought it was a beautiful specimen.

We are going to hit the Mags!

We were thrilled when Jim Moore came along to see the bike, he was there with his Yoshimura Katana and so the Suzukis however out numbered by the "other popular makes" were firmly placed  in the quality rather than quantity bracket.

He has plans to do an article about our GS1000 in the new "Practical Sportsbike" magazine.. its a new publication that is dedicated to the ever growing population of motorcyclist  that build, re-build or restore bikes to race, or just to ride and enjoy on a Sunday trip out to the local bikers haunts.

We will update you when we get the photo shoot organised so keep and eye out for the Mag!

All I can say it well done Kipper.. well done John ... yes you were right ...it is amazing and the faith you both had and all that hard work (and money) has been very much worth while...
